Qualifications and experience
• Cambridge University BA in law
• Completed articles with Macfarlanes and admitted as a solicitor in 1993
• Post qualification experience in tax, trusts, financial planning and charity law at Macfarlanes and W S Walker and Co, Cayman Islands
• Deputy director of Kurdish Human Rights Project, registered charity, between 1998 and 2000
• Joined Bates Wells & Braithwaite in 2000 to work in charity and private client departments advising charities and private individuals
• Partner at BWB 2002-2003

Type of work
• General advice to charities on establishment, constitutional issues, governance, reorganisations, mergers, Charity Commission, fundraising, commercial agreements, legacies and disputed probate
Assistance to social enterprises, including regular training on legal structures for social enterprises

Publications, talks and pro bono work
• Co-author of the second edition of "Charities, Trading and the Law", published by Jordans in March 2009
• Contributor to the sixth edition of "Charitable Status, a Practical Handbook", published by Directory of Social Change in January 2008
• Co-author of "Charities - The New Law 2006: A Practical Guide to the Charities Acts", published by Jordans in March 2007 
• Regular contributor to updates to the loose-leaf publication "Jordans Charities Administration Service"
• Chair of the Jordans Charities Secretarial Administration conference and regular training on legal structures for charities and social enterprises throughout the North of England
