General
Elizabeth is happy to undertake all aspects of Public and Regulatory law work. She has particular experience in drafting, interpreting and advising on Codes of Practice, their application and the principles involved in bringing prosecutions (for example, in relation to Article 6 issues).

Elizabeth undertook a long-term secondment at the office of a regulator and therefore has first-hand experience of the practical working of such organisations.

Type of work
• Acting for professional bodies on disciplinary matters, including:
      - Investigating and prosecuting of members of professional bodies, including advising on which breaches of the organisation’s Code should be raised and what evidence was needed to bring a prosecution; and
      - Drafting in full case files to be considered by adjudicatory panels.
• Acted as legal clerk to the Tribunal of a regulatory body which adjudicated on potential breaches of the organisation’s Code. This involved:
      - Providing guidance to the Tribunal on a wide range of issues, such as unsolicited promotions and whether a particular service was legal; and
      - Drafting full adjudication reports for all the cases heard by the Tribunal, which were later posted on the organisation’s website.
• Assisting organisations such as membership and regulatory bodies on issues about Codes of Practice application and general principles of prosecuting potential breaches
• Assisting organisations such as membership and regulatory bodies on drafting Codes of Practice.
