• Jurisprudence at Oxford University
• Qualified as a Solicitor at a City of London firm
• Assistant Registrar General and Lecturer at the Post Graduate school of Law (Kenya)
• 8 years at National Council for Voluntary Organisations, with latter years as Head of the Legal and Governance Department
• Partner at Sinclair Taylor and Martin, specialising in charity law
• Worked internationally providing technical assistance and training on NGO Law in a number of countries, mainly in the Commonwealth
• Joined the Charity Commission as a Legal Commissioner (August 2003)
• Joined BWB as a Consultant (March 2008)
Lectures, committees and pro bono work
• Guest Lecturer in charity law at Cass Business School.
• member of the executive committee of the Charity Law Association for many years and has written and spoken extensively on charity law issues.
• served on the boards of several charities and not for profit organisations
• currently on the Board of Dance United, the International Center for Not for Profit Law, a community foundation and a small theatre company.
