Event Summary

This event has been postponed. Please email to register your interest in the rescheduled date.

The session will specifically focus on the establishment of Buckinghamshire Learning Trust, a new independent charitable trust founded by local schools and staff formerly employed by Buckinghamshire County Council. The trust was set up to deliver a range of school support services to schools and settings across the county and core statutory responsibilities of the local authority (including intervention into schools) on behalf of the taxpayer. BLT chief executive Raza Khan (previously a managing director at NCG, one of the UK's largest youth and skills charities, and at leading international education company, Nord Anglia) will be speaking on the trust's experiences.

Additionally, David Fairhurst, director and co-founder of Mutual Ventures, will talk you through the journey towards setting up a public service mutual and Abbie Rumbold, partner at Bates Wells Braithwaite, will explain solutions to the legal obstacles.

If you represent a local authority currently considering your options for these services, or are already developing plans, this timely seminar and case study will provide illuminating examples of the challenges BLT have navigated and the benefits they aim to achieve.

The seminar is open to senior officers from all local authorities.
