Great conversations and exchanges lead to better outcomes and sustainable results. How can you help groups become more effective? How can you help participants to have conversations that matter?
Facilitative skills are increasingly becoming a core competency for leaders, managers, consultants, coaches, trainers and others who work with groups. It is not just for facilitators anymore. Basic facilitation will put the spotlight on vital facilitation techniques for seasoned consultants, trainers, board and committee chairs, CEOs or executive directors, and others who work with governing boards and/or advisory groups.
Participants will experiment with action learning – an approach that can be used with a variety of groups. They will be able to draw on particular tools and techniques including post cards and question cards.
The day will cover the following:
- The role and core competencies of an effective facilitator
- The different perspectives of a facilitator – differentiating facilitation from consulting, training, coaching & counselling
- Questioning techniques & meetings skills
- Effectively discussing governance and strategic issues
- Honing the skills for effective performance the inner and outer worlds of a facilitator
- Overcoming facilitation challenges
- Action learning experiences
As an introductory course, Vital Facilitation assumes NO knowledge. The participant will start from the basics and be introduced to facilitation and how it can be used as a powerful tool to support a board or any group. Participants will benefit from submitting the pre-session basic facilitation questionnaire we send out as part of the preparation for the day.
