Passed by the European Union in April 2016, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will have a far-reaching global impact on how organisations handle personal data. Any organisation that does business with EU citizens must comply with the GDPR's expanded and more stringent data protection rules by May 25, 2018. The government has confirmed that the UK’s decision to leave the EU will not affect the commencement of the GDPR.
Melanie Carter and Alistair Williams of BWB will provide an overview of the GDPR and how the intention to give citizens more power over their personal data (including the right to be forgotten) could impact on awarding organisations.
