BWB was out in force on Wednesday night to support the UK Social Enterprise Awards 2014.
The awards, now in their 16th year, recognise the achievements of people and organisations who make an exceptional contribution to the social enterprise sector. Run by Social Enterprise UK, the national membership body for social enterprises, the night saw awards for a range of categories including Social Impact, Buying Social, Women’s Champion and Youth Enterprise, amongst others.
BWB was proud to sponsor the Health & Social Care Social Enterprise award, which went to Social adVentures, a Salford-based social enterprise helping people to live healthier and happier lives. Stephanie Biden, partner in our Charity & Social Enterprise department presented the award to the happy winner.
The social enterprise sector contributes significantly to the UK economy and BWB has been at the heart of this sector for over 20 years. From working with the Fairtrade Foundation in the 1990s, to initiating the concept of the Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2000s to advising the Social Stock Exchange in 2011, BWB’s involvement goes beyond pure legal expertise. The firm, and its people, participate actively in the sector and we were all delighted to celebrate another strong year in social enterprise.
