To honour the memory of the inspirational lawyer Stephen Lloyd, who died earlier this year, BWB Charitable Incorporated Organisation, together with friends and admirers of Stephen, has announced a memorial award to be launched in 2015.

The award will reflect Stephen Lloyd’s commitment to innovation in tackling social issues by encouraging and supporting the development of practical, sustainable ways of achieving social change.

The organisers aim to harness the practical, pro bono support of experts in the charity and social enterprise world, as well as finance from philanthropists and social investors, and they are looking for organisations and individuals to pledge that support.

Phillip Kirkpatrick, deputy managing partner and joint head of charity and Social Enterprise at Bates Wells Braithwaite, said: “Stephen Lloyd was an enthusiastic developer of new ideas, the Community Interest Company perhaps being his most enduring legacy and a typical example of him identifying a need, thinking around the problem, finding an innovative solution and driving through the required change.

“The awards are about creating, more than celebrating, success. They will bring together funders and committed sector experts in various fields in order to deliver the support ground breaking projects off the ground to deliver real social change.”
