Lawrie Simanowitz, a partner at BWB, has commented on IOF’s new rule which forbids charity fundraisers ignoring no-cold-calling stickers displayed at some properties. The decision to change the code has arisen after it was emphasised that no-cold-calling stickers should be observed by all charity fundraisers in order to protect the reputation of the sector, even if it results in the loss of some donations. Simanowitz comments that despite an earlier FRSB survey finding that almost 40 per cent of householders thought the stickers should not apply to charities, “charities should nevertheless respect the stickers and not knock when they encountered them”.
