Simon Steeden and Pippa Garland of BWB's innovative Social Finance team represented Golden Lane Housing in a groudbreaking transaction that saw GLH list the first charity bond on the London Stock Exchange. The bond was lauched in 2014 and raised £11m in eight days.
GLH provides charity housing for people with learning difficulties. In recent years, the charity has found it difficult to secure finance through the traditional routes available, which led them to explore alternative methods of raising capital.
Alistair Graham, director of GLH, reflected on the launch in a recent blog post for Big Society Capital and shares advice for other organisations considering a similar route.
