BWB last night hosted the 10 year anniversary celebrations of the community interest company.
The party was also a celebration of the work of Sara Burgess, whose tenure as CIC regulator came to an end yesterday. Tributes were paid to the dedication and committment Sara brought to the role over the years. The new regulator, Ceri Witchard, addressed the gathering in her first speech in her new role.
Additional speakers included Roger Warren-Evans, who spoke of how he and BWB's Stephen Lloyd came up with the concept for the community interest company over a bottle of wine. BWB was subsequently instrumental in the development of the concept into law. There are now over 11,000 CICs nationwide, with the number steadily growing every month.
To celebrate 10 years of CICs, BWB's Luke Fletcher has collaborated with a number of sector experts to produce Governance for CICs: a practical framework, available to download for free here.
