Writing for Civil Society, Rosamund McCarthy and Melanie Carter warn that many charities have chosen to abandon or alter their campaigning activities because they are afraid of the effects of the Lobbying Act.
In response to a review of the Act, they go on to say that “the current regime is burdensome and inconsistent with other, more favourable approaches to regulation”.
