BWB has advised Diabetes UK, the leading UK diabetes charity, on the taking of a lease of a new 25,000 sq. ft. office building located at 126 Back Church Lane, Aldgate East, London.
Diabetes UK will be the sole occupant of the six-storey building, which will serve as the charity’s new headquarters, following their relocation in 2016 from 10 Parkway, in Camden, north London, which the charity has occupied for 15 years.
Richard Roberts and Nick Ivey worked with Diabetes UK from the early stages of the negotiations with the landlord, Boultbee Brooks LLP. BWB advised on the lease negotiation and also provided construction, tax and planning advice.
Anthony Francis, Head of Project & Facilities Management at Diabetes UK commented: “With our current lease at Parkway coming to an end it is no longer financially feasible for us to stay in Camden. This comes at a time when we also recognise the need to consolidate our offices in London and provide a working environment that best meets both the current and future needs of the charity. We selected our new office through a process of thorough and careful consideration, taking great care to ensure the best financial return on investment. We are hugely excited about the move as by better meeting our evolving business needs it will enable us to care, connect and campaign with even more of the four million people who are currently living with diabetes in the UK."
