Thérèse joined the Employment team at Bates Wells Braithwaite in September 2012. Thérèse currently advises predominantly employer clients in relation to a broad range of employment law issues, HR issues and employment tribunal claims including: changes to terms and conditions of employment; managing sickness absence, disciplinary issues and grievances; unfair dismissal, discrimination and redundancy claims; preparing
contentious cases for hearing; negotiating settlements and drafting settlement agreements.

  • Drafting and reviewing contractual documentation including contracts of employment, policies and procedures
  • Providing advice and support to a charity in relation to a redundancy process
  • Advising in relation to a case of potential gross misconduct, and assisting with the disciplinary process
  • Assisting a client in successfully defending claims for unfair dismissal and race discrimination
  • Successfully negotiating settlement of an unfair dismissal claim for an employer client
  • Advising employers on the terms of settlement agreements entered into with their employees
