Areas of Expertise
• EU Competition Law - Defending clients in EU Commission investigations into a wide range of industries such as base metals, medical devices, films and television rights; advice to international trade associations on the application of the EC rules.
• EU Trade Law - Advice to third country exporters threatened by Anti-Dumping Duties from the Far East, from North America and Eastern Europe; advice to non-EU governments on the application of the EC Trade Law Rules.
• UK Competition Law - Advice on investigations in to a variety of industries – such as engineering, geographic information (mapping), telecommunications and advice to the UK Cable Protection Committee representing the interests of the operators of major cables across the Atlantic and under the North Sea.
• Telecommunications - Acting for "second tier" telecoms operators (resellers) as respects all commercial aspects of their operations, including their regulation; advice to the UK Regulator on the detailed rules for unbundling the local loop (LLU).
• Utility Regulation - Advice on the use of slots at congested UK airports; acting for a UK gas and electricity regulator on both competition law and public law issues; advice to a major water utility on its public obligations.
• Sits as a specialist arbitrator in telecommunications disputes - currently on a dispute between the Regulator of and the incumbent telecoms operator of a country in the Gulf.
