We have an outstanding reputation for our services for not-for-profit, education and voluntary sector employers, who value our practical, ‘can do’ advice. We work with more charities, higher education, further education and cultural institutions than any other law firm in the UK, from household names to small local charities.
We are uniquely knowledgeable on complex employment issues that are specific to charities, such as the challenges to faith-based charities of meeting equality requirements, the legal position of volunteers and governance and strike issues for educational institutions. In particular, we are sensitive to delivering advice that fits within the charity’s specific values and ethos, but is also commercially sensible - enabling clients to make the necessary decisions and to support managers in delivering active performance management of staff.

We also undertake HR audits, ranging from a review of your terms and conditions and policies, to identifying potentially discriminatory practices and working with you to resolve them. This work can include advising on lawful means to address equality imbalance, which can include equal pay audits to ensure your remuneration practices do not risk a potential equal pay claim.
