Part of the Institute of Fundraising's series of half day events, aiming to answer some of the biggest challenges facing fundraisers. This seminar will consider Data Protection Law.
This seminar will be split into 2 sessions covering:
Seminar 1 – Data Protection Law: the Basics
This seminar will serve as an introduction to, or reminder of, the UK data protection regime, including:
Key terminology and the Data Protection Principles;
Basic security measures and breaches;
Overseas transfers of personal data;
Rights of individuals; and
Fundraising: the basics.
Seminar 2 – Data Protection Law: Focus on Fundraising
The second seminar will focus in more detail on the data protection considerations for fundraisers, including:
Data Protection: the basics;
Data collection statements and opt-ins and opt-outs to direct marketing;
Working with professional fundraisers;
Recent changes to the IoF Code;
The new Fundraising Regulator and the Fundraising Preference Service; and
The new EU General Data Protection Regulations.
