This event is now over and took place on Wed 17 May 2017
The best ideas often come from people who are directly faced with situations that are making their daily tasks challenging and ineffective. Have you ever thought, “I wish there was an app that could…”? As funding gets ever tighter and patients live ever more complex lives, professionals like you working with technology can offer brilliant solutions.
This event is an exciting opportunity for you to participate in an idea-generating and app-designing workshop. You don’t need to be a wizard – this event will facilitate any professional in health or social care to design an app, with the potential for Code4Health to take your idea forward and make it a working reality. We will explore how digital technologies can help you and your colleagues to provide better care and services to your patients.
Examples of apps that have been built from previous Code4Health workshops and initiatives include a clinical decision-making tool, a referrals tool and a patient-facing app to record peak flow.
The one day event will be facilitated by Dr Angela Yu, a junior doctor with a passion for innovation and coding, who founded the London App Brewery. You will hear Angela's personal story, you will design your own app and learn about how your ideas can become part of the Code4Health initiative.
What the course will cover
- Innovation talk: learn about the latest and greatest in tech. From artificial intelligence to virtual reality, see how technology is changing the world around us and learn how you can use the latest tools to affect change in your area of expertise
- How to make an app: hear about how apps are created from beginning to end. Learn about idea validation, app design and app development.
- Design workshop: get hands-on and learn to create wireframes and mockups that bring your ideas to life. We'll be sketching and using app tools to create a prototype based on your own experiences and ideas.
Code4Health is an initiative supported by NHS England and NHS Digital to enable the best use of digital tools and technology to deliver safe, high quality, efficient and compassionate care. We aim to educate and inform all participants in the health and care community: citizens, patients, carers, health, care and digital professionals.
