One day session
Great conversations and exchanges lead to impactful influencing, better outcomes, increased productivity and sustainable results. How can you help groups become more effective? How can you help participants to have conversations that matter?
Facilitative skills are increasingly becoming a core competency for leaders, managers, consultants, coaches, trainers and others who work with groups. It is not just for facilitators anymore.
Advanced Facilitation will build on essential facilitation techniques gained by attending other courses and from experiences requiring facilitation techniques. Advanced Facilitation will assume knowledge and experience. Participants should be looking to hone their facilitatiom skills further.
There will be a guest speaker joining this session.
The session will cover the following:
- Appreciative Inquiry
- Influencing skills
- Building trust and confidence
- Utilising compassionate (nonviolent ) communication
- Diverse Communications styles and how to use them effectively
- Dealing with resistance and dealing with clashing values
- Using post it notes for powerful facilitation
- Using questions to engender better understanding
- Resolving conflict and confronting difficult issues and moving towards agreement
- Dealing with difficult behaviours
- Productive meetings - a specific way of including and engaging member of the group
- Modelling positive attitudes
- Developing your facilitation toolkit - Tips and tools that help
What will be focused on in Facilitation 201:
- The inner and outer worlds of a facilitator and honing the skills for effective performance.
- Resolving conflict
- Ensuring that the facilitation process models the behaviours we want to see in others
- Building on the best to make things work and overcoming facilitation challenges
- Tips and tools that help generate fresh and innovative thinking.
- Shaping better and improved relationships.
- Dealing with challenging behaviours
- Influencing for impact
- Utilising action learning and a facilitative coaching style
Approach: the session will be a mix of presentations, practical exercises and working in groups. Participants will have the opportunity to put their learning into action through participation in meeting scenarios and peer-to-peer sharing.
Groups are deliberately kept small to encourage interaction, sharing and learning. Each session will draw on a strong evidence base while kept very practical.
