In the October edition of the FCA’s regulation round-up, the spotlight is on firms’ communications with consumers and the regulator’s ‘Smarter Consumer Communications’ initiative. This follows the recent publication of an FCA Feedback Statement of the same name, which highlighted stakeholder views and looked at the challenges posed by technology, social media, and maintaining clarity and transparency in communications with clients, and in the FCA Handbook.
In taking this agenda forward, the FCA has pledged to take steps including:
- hosting a Smarter Consumer Communications event
- considering further guidance on social media and the use of risk warnings
- consulting on changes to disclosure rules and guidance where barriers exist
The round-up also covers the FCA’s approach to prudential regulation and CRD IV, engagement with firms on Gabriel, and details of an upcoming ‘TechSprint’ event later this year that focuses on how RegTech could help streamline regulatory reporting.
Don't forget to get in touch if you have any questions or queries on the latest round-up.
