Independent legal directories Legal 500 and Chambers UK have released their newest editions, with some strong results for Bates Wells. Legal 500 2018 features recommendations for Bates Wells across 17 areas of law, while Chambers recognises the firm’s work in 13 practice areas.

Our Real Estate team moved into Band 1 in Chambers for their lower mid-market work, and were recognised for the by Legal 500 for their corporate occupiers work.

Chambers UK also awarded Band 1 rankings to our Charity and Immigration teams, while Legal 500 ranked Bates Wells in the top tier for four areas; charities and not-for-profit; education (schools); electoral law; and immigration.

Alongside these results, a large number of our people were recognised for the first time by the directories. In Legal 500 2018, brand new recommendations appeared for Lucas Atkin (Sports); Jessica Collings (Admin & Public and Local Government); Lucy Rhodes (Charities); Claire Whittle (Professional Discipline); Katie Dilger (Immigration); and Andrew Wheelhouse (Reputation Management), who was a paralegal at the time of ranking.

Catharina Waller appeared as a Next Generation lawyer for Brand Management, and Murdoch Currie’s arrival into the Coporate and Commercial team was recognised with a recommendation.

In Chambers, amongst a raft of other individual recommendations which included band 1 rankings for some of our Charity, Immigration and Media lawyers, Hannah Lyons entered the ranks as an Associate to Watch in Data Protection.
