Joanna is a solicitor in BWB’s Public and Regulatory Law department. Joanna has advised on a range of contentious and advisory public law and regulatory matters. She has advised claimants seeking to challenge the decision of public authorities in judicial review proceedings as well as a public body who was defending a challenge to its decision in the First Tier Tribunal. Joanna has also advised on public inquiries, inquests, codes of conduct and professional discipline. Joanna’s broader areas of practice include specialisms in information law (particularly data protection and preparations for GDPR, as well as confidentiality and privacy), education (including the regulation of qualifications and issues arising in schools), safeguarding and health and social care. Joanna was recently seconded for three months to a public body to advise on data protection issues and its relationship and operational activities with other public bodies. Joanna has a background in education and charity law matters having previously worked for three years with BWB’s education and charity teams.
