Senior Associate

Experience

Katie is a senior associate in the Immigration Department. She specialises in family immigration matters, including complex applications under the immigration rules, human rights claims and European cases. Katie trained at Freshfields, where she qualified into the corporate department. She later switched to the immigration field and worked for many years at Wesley Gryk Solicitors, a niche immigration firm. She has also worked as a senior lawyer in the personal immigration team at Kingsley Napley LLP and as an immigration PSL at LexisNexis. She is a convenor of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association Family and Personal working group.

Examples of Work

  • Providing advice in family immigration matters, including cases involving complex financial situations and relationship breakdown
  • Advising EEA nationals and their families on their status
  • Advising parents and other relatives in connection with immigration and nationality applications for children, including adoption work
  • Securing ‘no time limit’ biometric residence permits for individuals who had been granted indefinite leave but were subsequently admitted to the UK as visitors
  • Obtaining Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visas for artists endorsed by Arts Council England
  • Acting for families and individuals in human rights appeals
  • Engaging with the Home Office on family policy issues
