Experience

After completing her training contract at Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP, Rachael joined the Charity & Social Enterprise department as a solicitor in April 2018. During her training contract, Rachael undertook a wide range of general private client work including charity advice and complex tax planning. She also had experience representing corporate clients on large, high-value, cross border transactions. Rachael spent the final six months of her training contract on secondment to the casework team at the human rights charity Reprieve.

Before training as a solicitor, Rachael qualified as a teacher and spent two years teaching at a state secondary school on the Teach First Leadership Development Programme.

  • Advising on the formation and registration of a new charity
  • Advising on constitutional and operational issues for charities, including advising on conflicts of interest, procedure and other governance matters
  • Advising on grant agreements and funding arrangements
