Housing is one of the key challenges we face as a society – there is not enough, and what there is can often be unaffordable for those who need it.
The Charity Commission (“CC”) has released its guidance relating to the change in regulation of social housing.
From 6 April 2017 the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), which regulates the provision of social housing in England, will move away from its current consents regime to a new ‘notification and registration’ regime. This follows changes brought in by the Housing and Planning Act 2016.
Following a review into the structure and effectiveness of the Homes and Communities Agency (“HCA”), the government has backed plans to remove regulatory functions from the HCA and establish a standalone regulator for social housing.
